My first comission ever done. This is my 8th one. When it was on stage V, I was really unhappy with it, making everything wrong, exept the position of the drawing. Still, I liked the look. Harsh critics rained down that I was overdetailed at that point, making her look old. Subconciously I brought to consious that I was actually drawing in layers. I draw namely first a blended basetone. Then I overtone the details to protect them and estimate the more exact positions. Then I draw another layer, depending on the surface effects and bring detonation on the details, so I can "approach" the youth to grant me the proper age I require. If the results are there...that is more your judgements as I can only see what I think is right.

This drawing is a direct reprojection of my versatile artist. I think this was a challenge to fix the drawing, without loss of quality. I enjoyed to make the fire. Though it is not of the highest plank, it is still an artist flavor and I think good enough to carry over that mood which suits the personality as I know this girl. I aimed for likeness, but don't went into the ref picture too much. I've dimmed the hardness and the angled picture look. I also diminished the overkill highlite. I've imagined the circlet and the hair, there it was hidden in the original bandanna. So it is a great way to learn how your mind-realism, should equilibrate with what you actually see. She is extravagant and loves quite diabolical art, like demons, dragons etcetera...but at the same time she is a sensitive person. So therefore the softer look, but with the same penetrating look; only with a different, less hard effect to the vieuwer. To enhance it, I made it more magical, not too devilish but at the same time quite intimidating, so I thought a front of fire should suit the mood.

Despite of the technical rendering, I'm focused on what I feel...I only draw it when I feel it when I should. So when I was down with that 5th phase, I just lay it aside a few months until I was up for it. I want to be fair free in it, but at the same time produce convincing real drawings. I really want to give the drawing the time it needs, without pressurizing or fast performance of time! I'm enduring that in daily life too much already and I'm not unique in this. So drawing is a resort to be myself and to be one with my feelings and channelize the emotions into the drawing when it is set free while making it.

Analysis:

The best part are the eyes and the position. It has for my feeling quite some power. I'm satisfied with the hair, but not completely...it missed some shadowplay here and there against the main portrait. As I said before: not too happy with the fire, maybe some direct observation would have helped... oh well... Certainly a nice drawing for a commission as I tend to get at least the quality found in my regular drawings. That is a huge mistake of many artist to rush and wrap it up. This drawing needed some space and I gave it the time it needed. But with the sustainability of soul!
